SECRETARY-GENERAL: Akbota Karibayeva
Akbota is a junior PSIR student. Desperately searching for ways of applying her theoretical knowledge about international politics, she started MUNing at the NU MUN Club two years ago. Throughout this time, she was actively promoting MUN movement at her university and the city of Astana. Having experienced large-scale international MUNs, such as RomeMUN, StockholmMUN, and BerlInMUN, she was one of the initiators of organizing the first NUMUN Conference last year, where she participated as the Under Secretary General. Besides studying and caring about NU MUN Club, she enjoys karaoke, board games, and coffee.
DEPUTY SECRETARY-GENERAL: Alaidar Amirseiit
Alaidar is a junior Political Science student with a deep interest in Political Theory and Philosophy. Future aspirations include PhD in Military ethics. He has been a participant in a Nazarbayev University MUN since the first year of his undergraduate studies. Besides being interested in politics, Alaidar is interested in contemporary literature, graphic novels and theatrical plays.
CHAIR OF UNITED NATIONS SECURITY COUNCIL (UNSC): Diana Akhmet
Diana is a third year student majoring in Political Science and International Relations at Nazarbayev University. Having experience in ManMUN as a delegate, in NUMUN as a Chair of the ICJ Committee, she contributed to the development of NUMUN Club at university level. This year Diana will be the Chair of the UNSC Committee. Additionally, she is the Under Secretary General for Finance and is responsible for all financial issues including social events, coffee breaks and conference materials. Always open for new ideas and improvements, Diana welcomes new delegates.
CHAIR OF UNITED NATIONS SECURITY COUNCIL (UNSC): Raushan Zhandayeva
Raushan Zhandayeva is a junior majoring in Political Science and International Relations. She has been involved in Model United Nations since her freshman year at Nazarbayev University. Apart from being a co-chair of the UN Economic and Social Council for NUMUN 2016, she also participated in Berlin International MUN as a delegate in the UN Security Council. Additionally, Raushan is an alumna of the Global Undergraduate Exchange Program sponsored by the U.S. Department of State. Outside of NUMUN, Raushan enjoys sleeping and eating.
CHAIR OF COUNCIL OF THE EUROPEAN UNION: Aigerim Mendygarina
Aigerim Mendygarina is a third year student at Nazarbayev University. She is pursuing double major in Economics and Political Science/International Relations. NU MUN inspired her to study IR and opened for her a new world of diplomacy. She participated in Rome MUN conference and represented delegation of the Russian Federation in the Security Council committee. Also she was helping to organize the first NU MUN conference and was co-Chair of the Security Council.
CHAIR OF COUNCIL OF THE EUROPEAN UNION: Galymzhan Aitkazin
Galymgazy Aitkazin is a third year student at Nazarbayev University majoring in Political Science and International Relations. The proximity of MUN’s goals and activities to his field of study escalated his interest in exploring the global problems of the world politics and diplomacy. He participated as a delegate from Turkey to UNSC committee in the first MUN conference held at Nazarbayev University and won the “best delegate” award. He is pleased to meet new future diplomats and share his experience and knowledge.
CHAIR OF UNITED NATIONS HUMAN RIGHTS COUNCIL (UNHRC): Aizhan Abilgazina
Aizhan Abilgazina is a junior at Nazarbayev University majoring in Political Science and International Relations. MUN serving as a platform for practicing the skills of diplomacy as well as coming up with innovative and result-oriented solutions to current issues attracted her from the very first simulation. Apart from being the part of UN Security Council at NUMUN Conference 2016 and Nazarbayev University 1+1 conference, she participated as a delegate of UN Security Council at International Berlin Model United Nations. She is very excited about meeting new members of our beloved NU MUN club and cannot wait to experience being Chair in the upcoming NU MUN second annual conference.
CHAIR OF UNITED NATIONS HUMAN RIGHTS COUNCIL (UNHRC): Dilshat Zhussupova
Dilshat is a junior, studying Sociology and Political Science and International Relations. She has participated as a delegate in the UN Security Council at Nazarbayev University MUN and at Al Farabi Kazakh National University’s New Silk Way MUN, receiving the Best Position Paper award in both, and will be participating in the upcoming Cambridge MUN and Oxford MUN. Her favorite MUN experience so far was the 1+1 MUN conference organized by and held at Nazarbayev University, in which students and professors alike engaged in entertaining and constructive discussions and debates on security threats in the Middle East. She looks forward to Co-Chairing for the first time, and welcomes all delegates!
